The ONDC Hackathon challenged participants to design an innovative e-commerce app for India’s first-time smartphone users and the undigitized population. The goal was to create a user-friendly solution that enhances accessibility and trust for underserved communities.

The Problem
For many First time users, online shopping feels overwhelming, rather than empowering. Platforms are not designed with their needs in mind. Common pain points include unclear product details, size and fit issues, and poor customer support. Most importantly, there’s a deep lack of trust.

Solution?!
We designed an Android app tailored to first-time and undigitised users. The goal: Remove confusion, build trust, and make shopping feel effortless.
From a minimal, non-overwhelming design to clear reviews, verified sellers, and responsive support.

Logo and Colours
Logo and Colours
We chose orange as our primary colour to convey energy, warmth, and youthfulness. It helps create a friendly and inviting experience for first-time users.
From festivals and textiles to everyday design, the hue reflects a collective preference for brightness and positivity that resonates deeply in the Indian visual psyche.

Then comes the wireframes
We began with low-fidelity wireframes to map out a clear, intuitive flow for first-time users. The focus was on simplicity and reducing cognitive load.

And the MVP
working that high-fidelity magic.

Since people already trust and use WhatsApp, logging in feels familiar and safe. It’s a quick and simple way to help new users get started without confusion.
As soon as a user signs up, a pop-up offers special discounts to attract more traffic to the app. One of these is a data pack voucher—added thoughtfully for users in tier II and III cities, where internet access can be limited or expensive.

To help users make informed purchase decisions, we show how many people bought the product in the last month, this builds trust by highlighting popularity and reducing doubts. We’ve also added a size-fit slider to give users a better idea of how the product would fit.

Since trust was a key focus for us, we included a “Bharat Approved” badge to add credibility, along with genuine customer reviews to ensure transparency.
